Information for those attending the Audition on 15 Sept 2018

Saturday 15 Sept 2018    15:30 - 17:30

First of all a big thank you to all who have signed up for the audition.   A big toi-toi, chookas or tas de merde  to each and every one of you.   Whether or not you are selected for the performance at the Dancehouse in February, I hope that you enjoy the audition.

Although the audition starts at 4 pm, I have arranged a 30 minute warm-up class for those who want it.   The class will be given by Jess who is one of the staff members at Dance Studio Leeds.  She specializes in fitness and street dance and will give you the best possible preparation.  Those attending the warm-up should arrive at 3:15 pm.

The above photo shows the address and location of the audition.   For those who have not been there before, Mabgate Mills is just over a mile from Leeds station and half a mile from Northern Ballet.  There is ample free parking in the courtyard at weekends and a bus stop nearby for those relying on public transport.

An audition takes the form of a regular ballet class.  Terry will give you a thorough barre and then ask groups of you to try various enchainements.   That will enable him to see whether he has enough dancers of the right calibre to create the ballet for us on Sunday.   I am confident that he will because we have some lovely dancers on both sides of the Pennines.  However, he has warned me that his standards are high.

Amelia Sierevogel has some great ideas for costumes which she will mention to those who are selected for the show.

If anybody has any questions between now and 4 pm on Friday do get in touch with me through my contact form.   I look forward to seeing you.
