We have a Teacher

In Welcome to Powerhouse Ballet  on 30 March 2018 I set out a plan to establish an amateur ballet company in the North of England:

"We decided that the way forward was to hold a class in a place easily accessible by road or public transport from anywhere in Greater Manchester and South and West Yorkshire and see who turns up. To attract good dancers the teacher would have to be well known on both sides of the Pennines. I am glad to say that an excellent teacher who meets that criterion has expressed interest in taking that first class."

I am delighted to say that Jane Tucker of Northern Ballet Academy has accepted my invitation to give that first class.

Jane needs very little introduction.  She teaches Northern Ballet Academy's improvers' class in Leeds on Wednesday evenings and has taught several intensive repertoire workshops at the Dancehouse Theatre in Manchester for KNT.  She will, incidentally, teach KNT's intermediate and advanced workshop on La Bayadère on Saturday 14 April 2018 which I recommended strongly in Repertoire Workshops for Adults and Children 3 April 2018.

The date, time and venue for the class are still to be confirmed but it will probably be held at the Kirklees Leisure Centre in Huddersfield on one of the first Saturdays after the royal wedding and KNT's show.  A short meeting will be held immediately after the class at which I shall propose a resolution to form an adult ballet company in the North of England.  If the resolution is carried we shall elect a small steering committee which will choose a chair, secretary and treasurer from among its numbers. What happens after that will be for the committee to decide.
